וַיֵּצֵ֨א דָוִ֜ד בְּכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִשְׁלָחֶ֤נּוּ שָׁאוּל֙ יַשְׂכִּ֔יל וַיְשִׂמֵ֣הוּ שָׁא֔וּל עַ֖ל אַנְשֵׁ֣י הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וַיִּיטַב֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י כָל־הָעָ֔ם וְגַ֕ם בְּעֵינֵ֖י עַבְדֵ֥י שָׁאֽוּל׃ (פ)
Daud maju ke mana pun Saul mengutusnya, dan ia selalu berhasil. Maka Saul mengangkatnya menjadi kepala atas para prajurit. Ia disukai oleh seluruh rakyat, dan juga oleh para pegawai Saul.
